A good early season trnt. I was proud of Jefffrey Vesta #125 NCCC, (MHS grad.) 4-0 4 pin falls. Colt Rogers #133 BC (Smith Center grad) 5-2 on the day. & Courtney Strauss BC not seeded, pin fall in finals and the OW. Wow what a day for these three Kansas Kids. At #149 #5 Dexter Carter of Ouachita was fun to watch, Coach Ward has a rising star in this wrestler. Carter beat a solid Jarell Price of Baker 7-4. At #149 Colby (Holtn High Grad)Kane Lvvorn #157 went 3-2 and is a sleeper this year, I would bet on him bringing home, some hardware. GO FHSU Little & Thoman are both BEAST. These Wichita area wrestlers are B.A. I am pumped they are in Black & Gold. At #165 Aaron Hynick (Rose Hill) I think that is correct. Can I say this "Someone give this wrestler some Scholarship money" he is tough. Benny Armstrong (Andale) Yea! FHSU is also a B.A. Benny was fifth. Good to see Kyle Allen of CCCHS on the mat for BC. Kyle lost to Lee Laxton of Bacone Okla. SV.in a tough #165 weight class. #174 was a good weight class. Best part of the day, hanging with Austin Tratro of FHSU, (Mazie HS grad)& Matt Atwood of BC (Smith Center HS grad) & Derek Holly of FHSU.(Shawnee Hts)..# 184 good weight class.Big Shout #197 Zack Grimes of FHSU for his 1st Championship. He beat a really tough Jarid Price of Baker 16-5. Kudos to Blake Stieret of Colby College. The Big Boys were OK to watch. Dan Harris & Baker University congratulations on a good early season trnt. It was a pleasure to sit and watch and visit with so many of our Kansas Kids. I know many of them since 8 Under days and I use to hand them their plaques at Kids State Trnt. RMG

Those brackets are a blast to look at. I wish I could have been there. It is great to see Vesta pay his dues and dominate. Grimes has a huge future ahead of him!

I definitely agree with that statement. Zach Grimes had an awesome tournament. He is a very impressive wrestler. Congratulations to Zack Grimes on the win in what was probably his first college varsity tournament.
