Have you taken over for Brown? Not complaining, just curious. No, he hasn't taken over for Coach Brown. If you check the 3A rankings, Coach Brown has the 1/31 update. I think it's a great testament to both men, that on each of their top 4 they almost always agree on at least 3 wrestlers (often slightly different order). That's very good when the slightest things can affect a wrestler on any given day. I was going to argue with both for leaving off a certain wrestler at 170, but then I checked last weekend's results and understand why they did. As always, there are quite a number of wrestlers out there who are just off the lists, that will make some noise come regionals/state. Kudos to both for all their time and efforts!

Calhoon record is correct as stated. They did have him down as 4 losses after Paola, not 3 which he actually has--but that was incorrect as he had a 5 match limit and loss of coin flip determined one match. This however should NOT go down as an individual match lost against his record (unless I am mistaken) as a match was not actually wrestled.
As far as his opponents. He has lost 2 close ones against very quality 4A opponents who are in top 4 ranked in that class. --one being an 8 to 5 loss to Andrew Morgan of Baldwin and also a 7 to 3 decision to Joe Wolfe of Tonganoxie.
..really wish that he had chance to go up against more 3A opponents as the only 3A opponent he wrestled he pinned so you are right in that he hasnt had the chance to truly see where he measures up against 3A. ~ Among his favorable wins within last year are pinfalls over Garrett Matthews of Royal Valley and Kyle Wilson of Wamego. At HS Kids State this past year he dropped matches to current 4A top ranked Aaron Engles of Andale 9 to 6 and current 5A ranked Anthony Monares of Newton 13 to 6.
Unfortunately, he co-ops with 4A classification-Atchison HS and wrestles their schedule. Just putting his name out for consideration, as it is the next few weeks wrestled on the mat that is going to matter the most. Thanks Eureka wrestler15.

No problem. I just can't justify putting him into the rankings at this point. But we'll let the matches at Hays decide the final rankings.

No, I've not taken over for Coach Brown. I just enjoy doing the rankings in my free time in college. I'm a communications major so this is an easy way to bump up my portfolio of work. Coach Brown and I do tend to disagree here and there. But some of those variances are because with his teaching, coaching, and family duties he doesn't have the most time. When I see a glaring difference I generally try to alert him.

I've updated my rankings because I missed some previous state bracket results involving the 220 lb. weight class. Austin Veach of Doniphan West had criteria over several wrestlers in my rankings and I had overlooked last year's results. 1. Riley Oharah-Goodland-12 2. Tanner Taylor-Burlington-12 3. Austin Veach-Doniphan West-12 4. Cody Batt-Hosington-12 5. Jaishawn Bahia-Republic County-12 6. Kane Washington-Hoxie-11 Here is the bracket in question: http://www.321wrestling.org/official_web/321statebrk014.htm

I wonder if this is wrong, as they have Luke ranked 3rd all class, and Wilcox 8th all class, but they have Wilcox #1 in 321A and Luke #2 in 321A

The 321A Rankings are done by Coach Brown and the All-Class Rankings are done by Eric Johnson.

Yes I do realize that, but I was merely saying that with that big of a differnce in rankings between All class and 321A, is not generally seen. I do realize that they may differ some with different rankers. I also appreciate the individuals who do rank these athletes, as it gives me something to do while I am supposed to be working. :):)

Within the All Class Rankings, there is often only 1 or 2 points separating some of those at the top and bottom.

coach Brown you have at 220 Fortin from Oberlin ranked 5th and Washington from Hoxie ranked 6th. Should be the other way around.

Number 2 Scott City beats number 1 Goodland 48 to 30 tonight. Impressive, but that is a dual which is not the same as a state tournament. Either way the team race will be interesting in Hays this year.
