For the parents who have not checked the calendar, this event is the same weekend as Reno Worlds. Folkstyle Nationals is 3/30-4/1 and Brute is 4/5-4/8.
There have been a couple questions regarding the level of competition at this event compared to Reno. If you are in the running for the Trinity award, I say you probably need to go to Reno. We want to take the best wrestlers Kansas has, but no one is going to be upset if you have a chance at that award and try to win it.
For the rest of you who are on the fence, consider that you will get 7-8 quality matches at this dual team tournament. At Reno, you lose 2 and you are finished. The team dual concept is important for these young guys. Your contribution to the team may be as simple as not giving up bonus points in a loss that helps us win a tight dual. You may score bonus points to help us win a tight dual. I've watched some of our wrestlers beat kids they have never beat before. Others have fought almost an entire period on their back to not get pinned. The level and intensity of the wrestling is always a notch higher in these events. Pride comes into play and there is more than just a personal win at stake. Just as important is the fact that the kids have fun and meet others that they may not get to see very often.
There will be no shortage of top notch kids at this event. Keep in mind that all the other states are trying to bring their best as well. I guarantee the caliber of wrestling will be all you can handle. Just ask Anthony Capul from our club - I think all 4 of his losses the last 2 years were at this dual event.

we have a baseball tournament that weekend. im going to try to get out of going and let brady go to this tournament. since its a local tournament i dont think it would be that big of a deal to miss it. so you can mark brady bockover down for 100lbs. he is a 5th grader. hey kmac can i borrow some money to lol. i will see if i will be able to go also. what is the normal expense for a parent to go to this. i would be willing to help coaching if needed or maybe even video taping. if someone wants to put together a video i have 10 gigs of music for the cd as well.

We will be staying at the same hotel as last year in West Omaha
Holiday Inn Express and Suites 17677 Wright Street Omaha, NE 68130 402-333-5566
The rooms for the teams are taken care of so parents don't need to do anything for their wrestler.
I have a block of rooms set up for the parents to reserve in their name. You must make your reservation by March 23rd to get the Kansas Wrestling rate of $89.99 plus tax. If for some reason you don't end up going, you can cancel by 6pm the day you are to arrive. Tasha at the hotel told me the rooms will be significantly higher if not booked by 3/23. I know that we won't have the teams picked until after that date, but I could not do anything about it.
The hotel would only let me hold an additional 20 rooms at a time. Once those 20 are reserved we will be able to hold 20 more.
Please get your reservations early if you want to stay with the team. Remember, you can always cancel if you don't go.
Ask for Kansas Wrestling 2012 to get the $89.99 rate.
