Fourteen weight classes, sixteen qualifiers, four state classifications = 896 wrestlers. I am not sure at each weight, but my guess (and this is just a guess), is that 15 percent are freshman. Interesting question, and I would challenge someone to come up with the true answer.

It would also be interesting to see if there is any weights when you combine all 4 classes that no grade level qualified in. Example 220 has no Freshman across the board from what I saw.

I can't imagine that there are a lot of freshman 220 pounders wrestling varsity at State from the East to the West coast. I am sure there are plenty, but on a percentage basis, not many. On a side note, the milk in Germany is tough to swallow, I had to drink the chocolate milk.

To answer your question it looks like on average 10% of the state qualifiers this year were freshmen with the majority coming from 106s and 112s.

RB,

I knew if anyone was up to this statistical challenge, it would take someone with a NASCAR Championship mentality, and you proved me right. Thanks for this breakdown. Jean Girard would be proud of you.

GE has two freshmen qualifiers 170 and 182. they have held their own all season against older and stronger men. But they are fearless!
