Kansas Wrestling Forums General Discussion Women Freestyle state May 5th and 6th

Parents, coaches, athletes, and supporters,

Please pass the word to any female wrestler that you know, May 5th and 6th to go to the state freestyle tournament. For girls wrestling to grow we need attendance at big tournaments like this and we can't make brackets without athletes. Get some wrestling in, keep the rust off over the summer, and learn a fun wrestling style!

Who alls going?

I believe it is being considered to schedule it so girls can wrestle in "girls" division as well as open for freestyle.

Jordyn Knecht (Kids ~55-60lbs) will be there and will participate in both if it is an option.

I would love to see all the girls she's wrestled this year... similar participation as we do for the girls state & national tournaments.

Put May 5th & 6th on your calendar and get them signed up. Haven't wrestled freestyle before? Come anyway, it's still "wrestling". More opportunities are being made for KS girls, the only way to grow the sport and prevent the opportunities from disappearing is to show up.

Who else is coming?

Just got confirmation that Girls will be able to register to wrestle Open and Girls divisions to increase the amount of possible matches. To prevent a time conflict, the Girls division will be wrestled during their respective Greco session:

SATURDAY
Girls Freestyle - Sat 9 am
Open Freestyle (Kids/Schoolboy) - Sun - after Greco/Girls Freestyle session, not before noon.

SUNDAY
Womens Freestyle - Sun 9am
Open Freestyle - Sun - After Greco/Women's freestyle, not before noon.

Livia Swift will be participating in the freestyle girls and open division. I think it'll be great opportunity and experience!!
