From a cost perspective I believe there will be two NE regionals as they will not make 7 schools from Topeka and KC metro travel to western KS. It would make more sense to add Emporia into the mix and put Hays in with the Salina schools. I know that travel is a serious consideration when assembling these regionals, especially with gas at $4 a gallon.

This was last year, I would think they would start splitting up the Topeka schools like they do the KCK schools.

Emporia High School – Brackets / Team Scores
Emporia, Kansas City - F.L. Schlagle, Kansas City-Washington, Lansing, Tecumseh-Shawnee Heights, Topeka-Highland Park, Topeka-Seaman, Topeka-West

Overland Park-St. Thomas Aquinas High School – Brackets / Team Scores
Kansas City-JC Harmon, Kansas City-Turner, Kansas City-Wyandotte, Overland Park-Blue Valley Southwest, Overland Park-St. Thomas Aquinas, Shawnee-Mill Valley, Shawnee Mission-Bishop Miege, Stilwell-Blue Valley

Salina-South High School – Brackets / Team Scores
Andover, Andover-Central, Great Bend, Hays, Newton, Salina-Central, Salina-South, Wichita-Kapaun Mt. Carmel

Valley Center High School – Brackets / Team Scores
Arkansas City, Goddard, Goddard-Eisenhower, Liberal, Valley Center, Wichita-Bishop Carroll, Wichita-West, Winfield

Agree with switching Hays and Emporia. Everything else should be just about a simple one-for-one 2012 to 2013 carry over except for the classification changes: Shawnee Mission South and Leavenworth (both down from 6A) for KC Wyandotte and Stillwell Blue Valley(up to 6a), St. James Academy (4A to 5A)for Topeka Highland Park (down to 4A) and Maise South 4A to 5a for Winfield (also down to 4A).

Call them what ever, NE Kansas or Central Kansas Regionals, KC and Topeka area 5A schools are going to be mingled for regionals. Someone will have to travel. Hays to Salina is about the same 100 miles+???? as Emporia to Topeka.
