There were some weird match ups with Labette's middle and upper weights bumped up. Several of those middle weight guys are really up a weight class already and then they bumped up one more. Labette had two of the returning national finalists out last night as well. That isn't the Labette team we will see this year. That said...Neosho looked tougher to me than they have been in a very long time.
The most impressive win for me was Hughes at 133 knocking off Neosho's best guy LeRoy Barnes. Barnes placed third last year at the national tourney and is a top notch wrestler! Hughes had beat him a time or two early in the season last year but Barnes seemed to be separating himself later in the season. They scraped hard and Hughes cradled him up and pinned him...big win for Hughes!
