Rossville Wrestling Club just started with practices last week and she is more than welcome to come to Rossville if you don't mind a few minute drive.

We will practice Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6:00 in our high school wrestling room.

If you have any questions, please feel free to send me a PM.

First question would be what school district or area of Topeka do you live in? There are several clubs in the Topeka area. It's not a rule, but generally kids residing in the school district of the club get first preference.

If a club gives 'preferences' to kids residing in that school district, I would go somewhere else!!!!! Tells you a little about the idea when the person spouting it, will not put their name to it.

Some clubs have rules that they only accept kids from their school district.

Mr. Johnson, my name is Lonnie Woodman. I'm your new district 1 north director. I apologize for not clarifying myself better. If the gentleman would like to save the 30 min. drive out to Rossville, I would be more than happy to get him the contact info for the club nearest him. As for kids within certain districts, I'm simply stating fact.

Its too bad those are the facts. If that was true everywhere my kid would not have a club to practice with. Sorry if I offended you, but I have always found the concept of exclusion as repulsive and I probably took it out on your post.

John,

I am going to jump in here because while making a good faith effort to help out someone asking a question, I think Lonnie may have twisted up his words and confused you. The preference he referred to in his earlier message is “preference of the wrestler”. We have six clubs in Shawnee County and all are solid. They all have high school coaches that play an active role within the clubs. So of course when someone asks about what club they should take their wrestler to the standard answer of the Jr. Viking Wrestling Club (of which Lonnie is the Assistant Director) is to first inform the wrestler of local options within their school district.

However, the Jr. Viking Wrestling Club has never “excluded” anyone. We have wrestlers participate from as far west as Junction City, north to Atchison, and a number of kids from Jefferson County, as well as many from other areas of Shawnee County. When you sign up to be a Jr. Viking we accept you as one of our own regardless of your zip code. I think there are many who could testify who have benefited by joining our club over the years and the Seaman kids have benefited in return by having good practice partners in the room!
