If considering doing another tourney next year please make sure that the kids get at least 3 matches. Novice tournaments are supposed to be about getting kids matches since most only go to 3 or 4 a year. For some it was a wasted day to drive 40-50 minutes for 2 matches... every one likes to be done early but not 11:30 and I have never seen a Novice tourney charge $3.00 to get in the door! Next year get some advice and possibly some help first as we all want to support each others clubs including yours but not at the expense of a poorly ran tourney.

Thank you for the feedback. As an entirely new board this year we learned a lot with this tournament. Unfortunatley we had quite a few scratches in the morning and tried to handle them the best we could. We were able to work in quite a few extra matches throughout the day for wrestlers with byes. We chose to keep all mats/refs which did result in a very short day. We did charge $3 per adult for admission with $1 being donated to the Kansas College Wrestling Fund.

We were able to get a lot of feedback (including a lot of positive feedback as well) from coaches, wrestlers, parents, and volunteers and hope to have a much better tournament next year.

Thanks again--if you wish to discuss anything further or offer any addtional advice please feel free to email us directly at BCWCBulldogs@gmail.com

I think the tournament overall ran very well. It is a lot of work and the volunteers & board members did a commendable job. Appreciate all the compliments and comments received.

I would like to commend the BCWC board and thank you to all of those who attended. It was a great weekend of wrestling in Baldwin City with our high school BIT on Saturday and the youth tourney on Sunday.

I also wanted to add that I thought this was a very decent tournament.

Sure there are things that can be worked on and I think those things from my point of view would be move the awards to a hall or somewhere the bottle neck is not on top of a wrestling surface. The $3 is unusual for Novice tournaments but not so bad that I wouldn't return.

I did appreciate we started on time, there was another Novice tournament down the road that didn't start until 10:20. Many of the brackets I looked at were getting at least 3 matches, not all but heck it's a Novice so you never know what you are going to get. The other thing I thought was cool was the bobble head for 1st place, it's cool for kids to get something different than a small medal which is what most small Novice tournaments give. The best part was the crew officiating. You had 3-4 that will work state and they all are capable of working it in my opinion.

I will be recommending to our club we consider attending this as a team next year for our Novice guys. If more do the same the brackets will only get bigger and better.

This is not a paid advertisement! smile
