Oscar-winning Actor Philip Seymour Hoffman passed away on Sunday.
Recently published by Sports Illustrated: In a 2006 interview with psychology today, Hoffman spoke of a high school match that took place in a dingy boiler room. He ended up getting pinned as his mother exhorted him to get up, as a result, he said, he tried to use that to maintain his perspective. "it doesn't matter how brilliant or wonderful I think I am," he said. "On any given day, no matter how hard I fight, there's somebody who can take me down."

Good post. I am just so thankful for this sport. It has given me so many lessons for life. I get tired of people only focusing on "being the greatest". There is so much more to this sport. It's an art. It's a mantra. It's a code for life. EVERYONE. SHOULD. WRESTLE.

It surprised me, yet did not surprise me, that Dwight Eisenhower wrestled since he grew up in Abilene. I would be interested to hear more about his time on the mat. I will try to Google it, but if anyone can provide information about his wrestling career that would be great.

That would be great. Let me know if you find anything. Here's a good question, what two presidents would you love to see in a wrestling match against each other? Who would you pick and who would win?

Google isn't being very helpful. We need help from someone who has knowledge on this subject.

I hope that this wasn't the only wrestling that President Eisenhower did.
"Despite a Democratically controlled Congress during his administrations, Eisenhower was successful in establishing many domestic programs on both the economic and social fronts, sometimes with the full support of Congress, other times he had to wrestle with the members before they passed his proposals."

Abraham Lincoln wrestled. The sheriff from D.C. who caught the sniper a few years ago also wrestled.

Jay Mohr (Brown), Kirk Douglas (St. Lawrence), George Stephanopoulos (Columbia), Donald Rumsfeld (Princeton) just off the top of my head.
