Don't forget to sign up, through Track Wrestling, for the qualifying tournament to be held this Sunday March 2nd. The deadline is 6pm Saturday March 1st.
The qualifier is being held together with the 6 and under State tournament at the Salina Bi-Centennial Center. Weigh in times and locations are posted on the talk forum.
The dates for the Nationals Duals is April 11, 12 & 13 at the Mid America Center in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Team Kansas will again be taking 4 teams to this event.
Weigh ins are Friday April 11th at 5pm - this is the only weigh in and you have to make weight just once. Team pool wrestling is Saturday April 12th and Team bracket wrestling is Sunday April 13th.
I will post more details as soon as I have our hotel reserved, etc

Should we bring paperwork with that day in case our kids make the team, and if we should what would we need to bring. Thanks.

I will have copies to hand out, of the paperwork required - a current grade card, insurance card and a copy of the wrestlers birth certificate will also be needed before we leave for the duals.
In years past, we only had about 10 days to get all the paperwork, etc done.
I am still working on some details, but it looks like the cost is going to be $225.00. I'd prefer that all paperwork and payment be sent to me together.

There will be a seeding meeting Sunday morning at 7:30 at the Salina Bicentennial Center.
We would like 2 or 3 representatives from all 4 districts to be at this meeting.

We've got to have more kids in Kansas that want to represent their state. Last year people complained about who was and was not selected. Now the kids have a way to earn their way in. Pass the word on to your clubs so we can have 4 solid teams.

We WILL wrestle for 5th and 6th place at this tournament.
We will pick the alternates from the interested wrestlers who do place in the top 4, starting with those who finish 5th and 6th. We are allowed 3 alternates per team.
The teams will be staying at the Holiday Inn Express at 2610 Abbott Plaza Omaha, NE. I am working on a block of rooms next door at the Candlewood Suites for the parents.

Here is the line up for the first Elementary Duals that Dal took to Nebraska. You will notice a lot of young men on this team that are still wrestling and are doing very well. Get signed up, it will be a great experience and make you better.

This was a great time for my son and the team he was on. Not only did it make him a better wrestler,it gave him the 1st real taste of what it meant to be a team.He will be pushing to get on the middle school team this year.

Congratulations to all the wrestlers who competed in the Elementary State National Duals qualifying tournamment.
The top 4 finishers in each weight will represent Team Kansas at the National Team Duals in Council Bluffs, Iowa on April 11th, 12th and 13th.
Right now, I need to know what 5th and 6th place finishers want to go as alternates. Please email me - dal@matteck.com - or PM me here.
The alternates normally get assigned to one of the 2 alternate teams. Those teams wrestle just like all the rest do. They are put in one of the pools for Saturday wrestling and then advance to one of the brackets for Sunday wrestling. In previous years, alternates have typically got 5-7 matches on those alternate teams.
We will use the same singlet design as the Middle School. I'd like some input as to which one of the 5 you LEAST LIKE. Once we figure that out, we will start with Team 1 and vote for their favorite - and so on down the line.
Also, if there happens to be an error on Track Wrestling, please let me know.
I will be posting additional information in the next few days.

Dal, The tournament was great. I appreciate all the hard work. I talked to my son and Spider-Man is his least favorite.

Curtis Rylant was actually at 105 on the first ever team as he filled in for Ben Ewing. I can tell you that this was an amazing experience! That first group of kids that went did something really great as it has just continued to grow over the years. There was only one team (a fine group of boys however) and now there are 4 full teams!! The teams make a bond that will stay with then forever. Curtis went on to go again the next year and then his little brother has went also! I continue to hear both of my boys state "I know him, he was on my dual team" COOL!!I am sad to say our years of elementary duals are over. I encourage any one who loves wresting NEEDS to go! Might I add that Dal does an amazing job organizing and leading the teams and the coaches have always been great!!! Good luck Kansas!!!
