I would like to offer congratulations to the Winfield Wrestling Club on a well run tournament. For this large of tournament, the split sessions are the only way to go. They did the best job we've experienced controlling people at matside! They did this with courteous mat marshals in red vests patrolling throughout the day. No parents were allowed at matside. The first two rows of bleachers were reserved for wrestlers and coaches only, which is a great idea! There was always a place to sit for wrestlers and coaches waiting on matches. Coaches were required to wear an identifying wristband to be on the floor. A valid USA Coaches card was required to qulify for the coaches pass.

The officiating was good all day except for one questionable call late in the tournament. This was a very competitive match between a TOHK & a Winfield wrestler.

I would rate the Winfield A+ on organization and A- on officiating. Overall this was the best run tournamnent we have attended this year!

Good job Winfield!

The Winfield Wrestling Club would like to thank all the clubs who attended our tournament. We ended the tournament with close to 700 wrestlers and wrestled the last match at 6:00pm. I hope everyone enjoyed the tournament and we hope to see you next year. Please let us know if there was something you didn't like of if there is something you want changed.

Scott:

I wanted to congratulate you on your tournament. It sounds like it was a success. I also wanted to thank you for calling me last week after I sent you the e-mail requesting information on your split tournament format. It was great to hear that the format is being successfully implemented by some tournaments in Kansas. You indicated to me that you have a fairly long history of running this format. I would hope that someday it will catch on in the East-Central part of Kansas too. If a tournament is interested in considering the switch, I would suggest contacting Scott for information. He will give you the pros and cons of it. Congratulations again. By the way, Scott, Topeka turned out pretty good for us this year. I commented about it on the Topeka tournament topic.
