Question, which team has the highest total point ever scored at a Kansas state wrestling tournament, and how many points is that?

I can't find the exact number but Ark City Scored in the neighborhood of 205 points in 1994 when the state started awarding points for 6th.
In 1991 they scored 195 while only being awarded points for top 4 placers.

I know Hoxie scored a ton of points and won by a ton of points in the early 2000's. Seems like there is a plaque in by their gym that gives the numbers and says it's a state record.

In 2008, Goodard won 209 to 204.5 for Derby. It was an awesome team race!
Goddard had a 52 point lead after the first day. Derby came back to lead by 17 points going into the final round. Goddard had about 6 or 7 guys in the finals and pulled it off.

1992 was the first year that the top six were awarded medals at state. Prior to that only the top 4 earned medals.

Touche'...I wonder how many of Hoxie, Goddard, and Derby's points were "awarded" and not "earned" the years they scored over 200?

Touche'...Not, because that is a separate issue and not what I was pointing out. Anybody who placed in the top six in a year that medaled top 6 EARNED their medals and their points, unless they just got defaults or forfeits to get there. Plus Beeson, you know that I have always been an Ark City advocate and have always defended the Bulldogs, what ever the year or class they were in. I never said anything about Ark City so there was no reason to try to discredit the other teams whose kids earned their medals and points just like Jesse Dale did.

I know you were not trying to discredit anyone or the Bulldogs. Just poking a little fun and there is no harm in that. We will have to agree to disagree on earning 5th and 6th. Technically in a double elimination tournament both wrestlers have already been eliminated. Therefore they are awarded 5th or 6th and have not earned it. To me they are no different than the wrestler that goes two and out.

I don't have a problem with giving out 5th & 6th place medals and feel they have definitely been "earned", however Beeson has a valid argument that team points given for that placement match is a little unfair. The wrestlers for that team are both getting an extra opportunity to score team points after they have rightfully been eliminated from a double elimination tournament.
