This is one of the BEST RUN kids tournements around. BUT, the only problem is getting out to go home (3+ hrs for me)because pictures take a long time. Last year we waited (1hr.)for pictures only to have no-one show and I found out why. There is a lot of confusion and irrate people up stairs, because they move SO SLOW. I'm sorry to the other 80lbers. from teams STA, Salina, and Sunflower Kids for not staying to have my picture taken with you.

I agree. We waited for over an hour before the other kids in my son's bracket decided that they had had enough. They both had over 5 hours drive ahead of them and they didn't even get in line until 7:00. We left at 8:00. My son even told me that there were a few parents that were taking brackets from the bottom of the pile and placing them on top so that they could go first. If pictures was such a big deal, then have two photographers and two areas. Cut the time down in half.

There won't be any pictures for my son's bracket in the book next year! I wasn't there personally this year but apparently the 2nd-4th placers decided to head out, so naturally my son and husband did also. I don't blame the other kids/parents.
Since so many people travel to that tournament this process should be evaluated for next year. It's a thrill for the kids to be in the book the next year, but sometimes it's just too long of a day to wait around another 1 or more for a picture.

You know the pictures are pretty nice and I like how they put all the kid's pictures in the program of the next year. I think what slows the process down is that they allow parents to take pictures also. I think that it's nice they do that but it does seem to slow down the process.

We did not wait for pictures. My son's bracket didn't finish until 7pm. When we went upstairs for pictures there were about 75 kids waiting in line and since we had a 3 hour drive home we decided to leave. I think in the future if Salina wants pictures they need to find a better way of doing them, maybe 2 photographers.

I am the Tournament Coordinator for the Salina Kids Wrestling Club. I will look into what it will take to have additional photographers present, so that the wait time is minimal. I do appreciate your attendance and want the experience to be a memorable one. The photo's have always been a popular aspect of TOC and any ideas to make it even better will seriously be considered. Thanks again.

Chris it's people like you that make this WORTH the 3 hr. drive. My son felt bad about leaving and I wanted him to say that to his opponents. This is one on the BEST in the MIDWEST to wrestle in. Thanks, 80lb Champ dad.

I must also give props to Chris and the rest of the crew at Salina. From the quality of wrestling to the hospitality room they treat each and every person with respect. I know there are a few glitches here and there but this is a wonderful tournament and Chris I am confident, will look into improving the photo session. I also wanted to say thanks for the effort they took on to try and help Tyler.

I thought it wa a great tournament, I was darn sore the next day from doing all those matches but its what you can expect from some 1300-1400 kids. The hospitality room was top notch and even the security guys were friendly. Thanks Salina.

Chris you might consider going to a split format and having the photographer there at the end of the first session then at the end of the second. This might allow you to use the same number of people at the head table, there was a backlog there, and as the photographer.

Bob Stein and I have talked about it briefly. We are looking in to that as well. There's a possibility that the bracketing format may also change for the Salina tournament next year as well. I'll keep everyone posted. Thanks.
