Any suggestions on what to do with a 8 & under kid that weighs 130 lbs. it is his 1st year and wants to go to tournaments. I think the biggest weight in 8 & under is 125.

Drop the 5lbs or wrestle up to 10U. This is a issue with a few kids a year. There is not enough kids there to warrant another weight class so they suffer a bit early on. It only makes them better in the ling run so stick with it.

I almost never recommend cutting weight at this age. But I would have to guess that the boy is quite a bit over weight. I may help his health to drop the 5 pounds.
