My son wrestled a kid wearing tights this w/e under his singlet. He said it was difficult holding onto his legs as his arms slipped on tights. Wouldn't this be considered a competitive advantage and is there any bylaw on tights.

Kids, High School and Even College wrestlers all wear tights. Totally within the rules.

The guy with tights on belongs in the same category as the kid with 2 knee pads, the kid with stupid socks pulled up, and the kid with that dumb*** headgear with the front cover:) good day all

OK.... I agree with the stupid socks. But the kid with 2 knee pads, may be talented enough to shoot with either leg, and the kids with the "dumb*** headgear front cover". The Ball family all wear those, and I am not saying that is why they are good, but if it helps maybe more wrestlers need to go to that dumb*** front cover.

Socks are where it is at brother, no matter how ridiculous we may find them. Side note: Kids that wear tights don't have to worry as much about Ringworm, Herpes,or all of the other lovely funk that wrestlers get.

One of my boys received a concussion playing football a couple years ago. Even though he was cleared to wrestle he wasn't comfortable with his tornado headgear. I bought him one the those headgears so he felt protected on the mat.(Worth a every dime!)He wore it almost two years before he went back to the tornado headgear.

Thanks for all your info, I also asked at practice tonight and found tights to be within the rules. A little questionable in my opinion but legal. My son sent that boy back to TX with a 2nd place medal anyway,

My freshman year in high school we wore tights. Personally, I didn't care for them. What I really hated though was our warm up tops. We looked a little like Kung Foo Warriors (not sure if that worried our opponents or just made them laugh). One thing you really couldn't do with them effectively was "warm up".
