106 - Gabe Buckbee (AC) dec. Michael Spangler (KMC) 5-4

120 - Logan Treaster (New) dec. Montez Robinson (AC) 2-1

138 - Jalin Harper (MH) dec. Stephen Tujague (SJA)

138 - Tyler Garcia (DC) dec. Stephen Tujague (SJA)

Let me just add one thing. I think if a wrestler dodges a key matchup, like I feel happened today in Ark City, they should drop two spots in the rankings. I know ranking don't mean anything but it is frustrating when coaches, kids, and parents dodge competition for record sake. We are here to wrestle bottom line.

Winfield at 132 #2 kid in 4A against #1 kid in 5A. For 3 months we have to hear how we are going to get beat and then when it's time to wrestle....excuses.

I saw a kid not wrestle in a bracket with Mark Hall last year.

He was from up North wasn't he? Apparently was a pretty good wrestler as long as he could pick who he wrestled.

How about the Flint Hills Tournament 170 bracket?

Chuck Schmidt from Eureka returning state champion at 321A 160
Lane Moran from Leon-Bluestem returning 3rd place finisher at 321A 170
Lucas McMichael from Central-Burden placed 3rd in 2014 at 321A 160

McMichael beat Schmidt 5-3
McMichael beat Moran 3-1 in OT
Schmidt beat Moran 6-0

I have had a private message, a phone call and I called Coach Buckbee to see if this last post was inappropriate. After consideration, I have decided that it is not always the wrestler who is at fault. The Coach has the final say on whether a wrestler steps on the mat or not. Luckily we have a Coach who looks for the toughest competition and would not dodge competition, BUT there are those out there that will. So from now on I will call the Head Coach out and post key matchups that were avoided, instead of blaming the wrestler. Coaches, do your jobs and prepare your wrestlers. Quit DODGING.

He didn't dodge anyone. Coach hold him out because he strained his LCL.

If they can't wrestle, they could at a minimum "hug it out"!

Last year there are at least 3 key matchups (126, 145, and 170) that were dodged because of a coaches call. Two of the excuses were that the team had too many competition points so they needed to sit out. What kind of Coach sits a kid against a ranked opponent? Sit your stud wrestlers on the nights they don't have a tough match, not against a ranked opponent.

Kenny, check your PM please.

1st week of season and the whining begins. Kids get injured, early. They have a whole season ahead of them. So if you miss a "tough match", so what. They will have plenty of other "tough matches" ahead of them. Move on and WRESTLE.

As long as the wrestler is actually injuried. I agree with Beeson's idea of falling a couple spots.

Whining? If you miss a tough match, so what? Are you kidding me. Weren't you the one who couldn't believe Jake would wrestle Bowen when Jake had criteria after Derby? We could have used the Competition Point excuse but we didn't, we don't have that dodging, saving records, mentality. We wrestled and lost. We are always ready to Move on and Wrestle, can you say the same? I could point out examples where you weren't from last year if you would like to continue pushing the tough guy who cares attitude Spexy.

This isn't kids club. It's HS, things happen. Nobody made you the authority on the HS division. Leave it to the coaches and the wrestlers. Be positive about the sport. Not a negative "NELLY" all the time. Bashing coaches and wrestlers on "dodging?" Come on. State will tell the tell.

I'll call a spade a spade and State will not tell the tell. Some key match ups cross classification boundaries and State boundaries. Prepare the child for the path not the path for the child.
