Kansas Wrestling Forums General Discussion High School I'm really worried about state wrestling.

I am really worried about the state wrestling meet. Like, really, really, really worried.

Washburn Rural (#TeamTopHat) has qualified 12 wrestlers for state tomorrow. And it's pretty clear to anyone that has ever watched a wrestling match that all 12 of #TeamTopHat's wrestlers are going to win individual state titles, probably with 48 pins total.

The reason why I'm worried is because I'm not sure the sport of wrestling can recover from such a dominant team. I know that Beloit had some great teams in the 80s, and I'm pretty sure that Kapaun had some great teams in the 60s or 70s, but I'm pretty sure that none of them went 48-0 with 48 pins like #TeamTopHat is about to do.

Will other teams just quit when they realize they don't have a chance? Will anyone even come out for wrestling in 2016-17? Will KSHSAA have to establish a premiere Washburn Rural-only division?

I'm scared for our sport, guys.
