Again this year USA Wrestling Southern Plains Region will be hosting the Southern Plains Elementary Folkstyle Duals and also newly added Middle School Folkstyle Duals on Feb 18th-19th in Tulsa.

Kansas is looking to send two elementary and two middle school teams to compete. Dependent on the number of 6th graders looking to compete we can also use them also to fill our middle school line-ups if needed. Estimated cost is $180 per wrestler (this could potentially drop to around aprx. $165). This fee will included entry fee, transportation, and hotel. The team will be provided singlet, shorts, and t-shirts. The singlets will be saved for subsequent Kansas teams.

Our intent and goal is to assemble the best five teams we can to represent Team Kansas.

There is no qualifier for these teams but we will assemble the best teams we can based on the wrestlers interested in attending. We will use a panel of coaches from each of the four districts to assemble our teams.

Listed below are the weight classes. The weigh-ins (one-time) will be done locally in Tulsa on Friday and each wrestler will get a 1lb allowance.

Elementary
45, 50, 55, 60, 64, 68, 72, 76, 80, 85, 90, 95, 100, 105, 110, 140+ (1lb.)

Middle
70, 75, 80, 84, 88, 92, 96, 100, 105, 112, 119, 126, 135, 150, 180, 230+ (1lb)

We will be looking additionally for three head coaches for the Elementary Teams with an assistant coach, two head coaches for our middle school teams with assistant coach, and as always team parents. The team parents we had last year assigned to our teams we “first class” and hands down we had the best food set-up at the tournaments. To the point Texas and Oklahoma tried to raid all the fruit and goodies we had for our wrestlers.

I can speak first hand to this event as both my sons wrestled down there. Team Kansas 1 finished 3rd place out of 8 teams from Texas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas. Top notch talent on the other states rosters. This year we expect the other states in the Southern Plains region to also bring teams (Colorado, New Mexico, and Missouri).

Is there a flyer for this tournament?

So I guess there is no flyer as I can't find one. Does anyone know who we contact if we are interested in putting a team together?

Folks this has been sent to all the youth clubs in the state. We have both Middle School Teams filled. We are looking at filling three Elementary Teams.
