I would like to know how many people paid the $12.00 for next weeks tournament that qualified out at Colby. When I went to sign up my son for next weeks tournament the people that were working the table told me that it was $12.00 so I gave them $12.00 in cash. Only to find out later that the entry fee is only $10.00. I was then told that if you gave cash that you could not get your $2.00 back because there was no way to prove that you paid $12.00. Losing $2.00 does not bother me, it's the fact that numerous other people paid $12.00 so where is the extra $2.00 going. I would of thought that this would have all been prearranged and all the details would have been planned out. Let me know what you think.

You paid the table workers $12.00? Don't you pay as a club to the tournament directors? They would know how much.
The club pays with one check for all the qualifiers, then I worry about getting the money from the parents later. Is this not how your team does it?

In our club you are responsible for paying for your own kid.
Why is District #1 $12.00 and the rest $10.00? Just wondering?

If I were a tournament director, I don't think I would accept personal checks from members for a qualifying tounament!

Our club required each to pay our his own kid instead of paying the club. We paid $12 at South Sub Dist 1 yesterday. Are the fees different by District?

Yes, the entry fees for district and subdistrict tournaments are set by each district. I know that Districts 2 & 3 require that the entry fees must be paid thru the club; apparently, Districts 1 & 4 allow or require individuals to pay their entry fees directly. This would be another policy that would be set by each district, rather than the state. In general, each district is responsible for advancing up to four wrestlers in each age/weight division to state, using two weeks of qualifying tournaments. As long as the rules established by the Kids Division are followed, each district can determine their own procedures for running these qualifying tournaments.

I have visited with the folks that were running the District Sign-up at Colby. They caught the error that District was needing $10.00 and not $12.00 midway through the sign up process. They have already this morning sorted out the individuals that overpaid, addressed the envelopes, and are sending the refunds back directly. It was an unfortunate mistake and the entire club apologizes for any inconvenience it may have caused. In addition Bones, the mat sizes were all 100% compliant with the regulating guidelines. There were no 9x9 areas of wrestling. As far as Colby parents on the floor: that is a bit necessary in order to have bodies to fill tableworker positions. I'm sorry you were so unhappy with the tournament. Finishing a sub-district tournament at 3:30 I thought was pretty good. Again, we regret that you were that dissapointed.

A few years ago all the Districts were charging $12.00 because $2.00 of each entry fee went to the cadet/juniors programs. We changed it and bumped the USA card fee up five dollars to cover the cadet/juniors programs. That way everyone in the state pays instead of the few dedicated kids that wrestle every year in all the qualifying tournaments.
In district II we set the fee for sub's & district at $10.00 that way if anyone wanted to host one, they new what they could charge. Each district is in charge of setting the prices of the entry fees how they collect them and if there is a admission charge at the gate.
I don't know how District I & IV keep their books straight with all those people coming up to pay.
We have one check in the morning session and one in the afternoon session from each club. The club director has to fill out the official papers that go all the way to state with the kids so just write one check?
Congratulations to all the Qualifiers.

That's a GREAT idea! A few clubs pay the fee for their qualifiers but I like the idea of requiring the clubs handle ALL qualifiers.
Yes, it is a bit of headache but we have gotten pretty good at it (I think). And yes, we have a couple of bad checks a year, but it's not a huge problem.
Our fees for the subs and the district are set at the annual meeting.

I am all for uniformity when possible. The fees for sub and district are set at our DISTRICT meeting.
I see a problem though with uniformity in this instance. If in the subs you have an inequity of participants (District 1 had 640 in the South and 635 in the North) you do limit yourself as to the facilities capable of hosting subs and districts.
This relates to entry fees in that these facilities are sometimes charging the host club $1,500.00. Even when Distict 1 tournament was hosted in Wellsville (a 3A school in a town of 1,500) we were paying $600.00 for usage.
Another area that needs to be looked at, is how much are the officials making in each District. I may be wrong, but I get the feeling the costs for hosting tournaments are not uniform thoughout the State.

These are districts and sub-districts not state, they should be able to make their own rules. Things are more expensive in Wichita and Kansas City than in Colby and Garden City. Also some districts have different thinking than other districts. As long as they all stay within the state rules let the districts decide for themselves.
You have national government and local governments you can't have everything run threw the national government just like we can't have everything decided at the state meeting. It is hard enough to get people to the state meeting we don't need to add more stuff to the agenda.
District I decided to keep the districts the same so they have larger subs than everyone else so they have to pay more to host over 600 kids. We have over 300 we don't have to have the same rules they do. They might have to charge admission and/or move fee's to $15.00 I don't think the other districts have to do the same just to make it uniformity throughout the State.
I said it was nice they put other kids in to fill up brackets at districts but that doesn't mean I agree with them. I now of a few brackets this weekend that a few kids got upset and others came threw when it counted. I now I would be upset if I finally beat someone for the first time and thought they were out of the picture then learn later that week they are back in just because the other sub had only two kids. Plus I don't think many kids or parents are that interested to wrestle out fifth and sixth place.
