Can a wrestler residing in one District qualify for state in another?

An example would be ...... Wrestler lives in District 1 and would like to qualify in District 3?

I believe a wrestler can qualify in any district (regarless of where they reside) as long as they are registered with a chartered club within the district they wish to compete in.

We have wrestlers from various districts that compete for us with no issues.

If that's the case, why do we keep changing boundaries for districts/Sub-Districts. I believe they should live in that district to qualify in that district. That should be brought up at the next state meeting to me....

whitewolf490 - so if I'm understanding you correctly, you feel that wrestlers should only be allowed to wrestle for a club within their district boundaries, thus keeping them within their district boundaries come qualifying series time?

I think you should attend the district tournament in the district you live and go to school in.

Up until our move this summer, we lived in district 4, but my child's school was in district 3. 5 miles from our house to his school. That 5 miles had us in Garden City and Goodland on consecutive weekends... Ya, I'm happy there are no longer subs in district 4.

That happens often in district 4 and I am sure some other districts. If you live on the district boundary there is a chance your wrestler may go to school in a different district. As far as traveling to Goodland and Garden City. Unfortunately with the geographical size of our district somebody is going to have to drive a long ways. If not you or I it will be another club somewhere on this 1/2 the state.

Master Blaster and whitewolf 490. Why would you want people to only wrestle in the district they live in. Many of us have to drive two hours to find the right partners to train with. Should we not compete with the team we train with even if it is in a different district? That is where our coaches and teammates are.

That is correct. If you live in District A, knowing you can't make state qualifying top 4, you should not be allowed to jump ship to go to District B, where you have a better chance to get into the top 4 for state.

I think you are missing why people wrestle in other districts. They are not ducking competition, they are going to another district to find good training (coaching and partners). Or they may be getting out of a district that can’t realize sub-districts is useless other than to make money for the club that hosts it. I am sure there are a few that try to find easier districts but if you can’t make it in the top 4, jumping to another district is not going to do you any good.
