Just to give everyone a heads up, the Salina "Kansas Tournament of Champions" being held on January 28th this year at the Salina BiCentennial Center will be held in a different format than in previous years.
We will be awarding team trophies to to the best team placers in each age category and we will award an overall tournament trophy for the best team.
We will also be changing from seeding kids in "A, B, C, & D" brackets. This year, everyone will still need to be rated for seeding purposes, but we will combine all levels into one bracket for each age and weight. (i.e. if we receive 50 kids at 8 & under 52 lbs, then we will utilize a 64 man bracket). There will be no individual brackets for each level of wrestler as done in the past.
Because we are combining all levels into one bracket, we will be awarding trophies to 1st through 6th place instead.
We are going to see how these changes go this year. Depending on the overall outcome, they could stay this way or revert back to how they have been done. These changes are by direction of the Salina Kids Wrestling Club Director and Head Coach, Bob Stein.
