Congratulations to Maize South Senior Jayson West on a great career! Jayson finished with a record of 131-26. Jayson is a two-time state placer and won the State Championship (our school’s first) last year. Unfortunately, Jayson has a few breaks and a torn ligament in his elbow and will not be able to finish the way he wanted. Toughness was always his MO and he was a warrior until the end, finishing his last match with one arm.

It’s been a great privilege and honor to coach Jayson the last four years. He was a class act on and off the mat and leaves a great legacy to the young guys on the team.

Congratulations on a great career! Hate to hear that it ended the way it did, but this is only another form of adversity for you to overcome. Keep your head up! Best wishes for the rest of your future!

Thanks for the kind words Coach Kerr. You have helped mold Jayson into the wrestler and young man he is today.

Kind of hard on his old man today as Regionals start. I've watched my son wrestle since 2nd grade and hate that his injury has prevented him from participating in Regionals and State his Senior year. He has 2 fractures in his radial head (elbow) and sprained ligament that just haven't had enough time to heal.

We all know wrestling is a tough sport and I couldn't be more proud of Jayson's accomplishments. He always handled himself with class both on and off the mat.

It's been a great run Son and I look forward to watching you use the toughness and grit you've shown in wrestling to be successful in all you do in life.

You will always be a Champion in my book!
