Something happen at my novice tournament in Newton yesterday that has never happened before. I received an email from a parent at about 11am asking me that since his son is on mat 4pm does the afternoon session begin at 4. I told him it meant mat 4 in the afternoon session. I had another kid show up right as we were calling him to the mat, he was 205 and he was just showing up because his parents also thought we were starting at 2 because he was on mat 2pm. I had 2 kids no show and they were on mat 4 and makes wonder if they had the same misunderstanding. Please explain to new families how the mats work, both of the kids I mentioned were the only kids competing from their club so that may have had aided the issue but please explain the split session to the parents.
