If there are 5 or few kids in a bracket at subs/ dist. is it always made into a roundrobin?

4 or fewer, 5 goes into an 8 man bracket.

Yes that is correct the bracket is set up to determine 4 true winners in a given weight.
if it involves 5 kids then it goes to eight man,
awarding bye's to the higher seeds, but that's the way it goes. If for some reason one of the kids was ejected or severely injured then the 5th place kid would be moved up to the next spot. If the 5th placer did not want to participate, then the 6th placer would be given the option to move up etc. But only 4 or less can advance and medal at sub's so as not mess up the 8-man format at districts.

For the last several years, where you are seeded has nothing to do with byes. 8 man brackets have the top 4 seeded and the rest are drawn in. Many years ago, if you were seeded number 1, you would get a bye if the bracket wasn't full. This is not the case anymore.

i think the top seeds shouldn't get a bye, just like in alot of the national tourney's, the top seeds wrestle, and the lower seeds get the bye's if your a top seed then you need to prove it and wrestle from the get go
