The 321A Pre-Season Rankings were posted last week.

Keep in mind I have not heard that many weight projections so these rankings are predominately based off of last year's state tournament results.

These rankings also include last year's 321A programs. I think we'll get official word from KSHSAA in December when Regional assignments are released of which teams have moved down from 4A or moved up in classification.

Please send me any weight projections, injuries, move ins or move outs, etc.

My email is wyatt_bechtel@yahoo.com or you can private message me on the forum if you prefer.

Why no Hansen from P-Ville at 170? I think (and I may be wrong) he's 18 and 1.

Yes, he is at 170. Was there at Oberlin last Sat. The real deal!! He needs to be ranked.

Also, not sure tate Seabolt from cimarron at 195 has event stepped on the mat yet. Was not entered at Scott City last week. Rumor that he broke a major bone in his leg towards the end of football and may not be able to compete. sure hope he can.

First off 170's is pretty loaded. Hansen has not beat anyone that is ranked. To his defense he has only wrestled the top ranked wrestler. He will have plenty of opportunities coming up in the next few weeks. It will be fun to watch how it all plays out. 5 out of the top 6 will all be in the same sub-state, and throw Hansen in there as well! I would say someone should go up to 182's, but I think that would be a bad decision.

170 is one of the best weights top to bottom in 321A this season. There are currently seven former state placers in the weight class, and two of those former state placers are not ranked. There are also four wrestlers who have qualified in the past who are outside of the rankings.

The top five in this weight class all have state medals. Kruger from Silver Lake has wins over two returning state placers (Dillon from Sabetha in 321A and Burenheide from Rock Creek in 4A), and split matches with #4 in 4A Lane from Ottawa. Hansen from Plainville is just outside of the rankings because he doesn't have a state placement, or significant wins against ranked wrestlers or returning state placers this season.

The Western Sub-State will certainly be a fun one to watch at 170.

With the limited mat time for some teams due to COVID-19 and results not being posted as regularly for duals/scrambles/jamborees it has been difficult to know which wrestlers are available. I'd heard Seabolt from Cimarron was wrestling, but with no match results to my knowledge it might be worth reevaluating the 195 rankings after this upcoming weekend of wrestling.

My #170 just said yesterday that Hansen could get a win at Minneapolis and knock off one of the guys ranked 2-5, he is that good. #170 is brutal this year. It's not as tough as 5a #145, but top to bottom, the hardest in 321a. They should take the top 4 spots in State. It will be exciting and good luck.

I would be splitting hairs! but I would argue 182 is tougher...especially out west.
1. Joshua Ball-12-Hoisington
2. Gavon Uehlin-12-Oberlin
3. Brennan Walker-11-Beloit
4. Jayce Hamel-12-Hill City
Then add Werner, Bassart, Kirchoff, Gottschalk, and Woody.

And the four listed under the top four in 182 are all in the west also, right? several good ones will be staying home come state time. But such is life out West. A yearly happening!!

They are both certainly good weights in the West Sub-State. Here is how 170 is looking in the West:

1. Matthew Rodriguez-11-Southeast of Saline (State runner-up, 2X qualifier)
2. Cole Steinert-12-Hoisington (4th at State, 2X qualifier)
3. Jesse Gardner-12-Wichita Co. (4th at State, 2X qualifier)
4. Konnor Pfeifer-12-Ellis (5th and 4th at State, 3X qualifier)
5. Hunter Prochaska-12-Beloit (State champion, 2X qualifier)

Other notable wrestlers:
Tranden Daerr-12-Garden Plain (6th at State, 3X qualifier)
Ben Hansen-11-Plainville (2X qualifier)
