I would like to encourage all coaches to have your tournament directors use KSHSAA girls weight classes with your tournaments and avoid the use of block weights. There is a couple reasons for this. 1) It does make it easier on the rankers to accurately rank the wrestlers, 2) the girls need to practice making their actual weight class, 3) remember 50% of the athlete's weigh ins must be at their weight class when it comes time to post season. I would also like to encourage teams hosting a girls division with their JV Tournament to use 2 minute periods on the front side of brackets and treat the matches a varsity matches. Many coaches are sending all of their girls to these tournaments as these might be our only options for meets for that week. The girls need to get use to wrestling 6 minute varsity matches and not 4 minute JV matches.
