Any info on whether 14U will wrestle on full mats at State? Had a couple of close call injuries on the 1/2 mats at District 2.

All 14's and 16' & under wrestlers will be on a full mats.

8's, 10's & 12's will be on 1/2 Mats.

Was it just me or did District 2 mat sizes seem small. The 14 and unders on mats 5 & 6 were constantly going out of bounds or running into the wrestlers from adjoining mats. There were also inadequate safety zones from the out of bounds line and the wood floor. There was only a foot to a foot and a half of mat between the out of bounds line and the wood floor.

Several matches throughout the day were interrupted and points were lost due to the small size of the mats.

Any opinions?

We were on Mat 6 at District 2 and saw one coach and one referee on Mat 5 knocked down by the wrestlers on Mat 6. Besides all the people walking on the side of the mat and wrestlers on Mats 5 and 6 tumbling into each other several times. Just not a good set up for that size and age kids.

But on a positive note - I thought the tournament was well ran. Tournament started on time and the officials, table workers and others did the best they could to make it a very nice tournament. So Thank You Mulvane.
