Are we going to have to pay for parking at State? I know the Expo has stated to charge for parking at all other events that take place there.

I don't recall having to pay in years past.

In the past we have not had to pay for parking, but now the expo is charging for parking on all events for security reasons. All the events within the last six months held at the expo, the expo has charged for parking.

We're in the third year of a 3-year contract. I am certain that there is no provision that would allow the Expocentre to charge for parking in the final year of the contract.
The Kids Executive Council recently approved a new 3-year contract with the Expocentre starting next year. I don't have the contract here with me, but am almost positive that there is no charge for parking in the new contract, either.

I agree with you Mike on the next three years. That was one of the differences between Wichita and Topeka, that we had to pay in Wichita but not in Topeka.

When did we ever have to pay for parking in Wichita?? I don't even remember having Kids State in Wichita... but I do remember it being in Salina.

That was in there proposal for the state tournament bid. They were adding 50 cents per admission ticket for parking fees.

Basically you are paying for parking one way or the other. Wichita chose to explicitly explain that fifty cents of their admission fee went towards parking. In Topeka they simply charge you admission and I am sure the parking cost is embedded. There was really no basis, from a common sense or economical standpoint, to vote for Topeka over Wichita. I think it was more of a partisan politics decision
