Kansas Kids Wrestling Coaches........If you had wrestlers at the Kids Fredonia Tournament in February and/or at the Pittsburg Sub-District Tournament in March:

There was an individual at the Fredonia Kids Tournament in February and the Sub-District Tournament in Pittsburg with a confirmed case of Pertussis (whooping cough). This person was contagious and may have exposed others. Pertussis is an illness with a persistent cough, usually hard coughing spells sometimes followed by vomiting. Kids are immunized against pertussis, but at the middle school and high school age there is not as much immunity for this and they can be susceptible, including REFEREES AND COACHES.

If these symptoms are noted, it is recommended that you see a physician and tell him/her of a possible exposure to pertussis. This is treatable with antibiotics.

I don't know if this is possible because of confidentiality purposes, but it would nice to know what age and weight to be the most concerned about. Maybe for example list the age group and list the weight as between (example) 60 - 75 lbs. That way your not specifying a certain age and weight class. Like I said, don't know if it can be done but it would be nice to have some idea.

The incubation period for pertussis is 7 to 14 days. This means from the time of exposure to showing signs or symptoms is from 7 to 14 days. Subs were almost 30 days ago.

It shouldn't matter what age and weight. Either your showing symptoms or not. You could have been standing next to him or her in the food line or the t-shirt line.

I would like to add it should matter somewhat...if you wrestled the kid you were in more direct contact.

Not if you pinned him or her in 3 seconds. OR wait...wait... this is a good one....what if they forfeited to you, that would be cool. You could have been scheduled to wrestle them they forfeited, and now you don't have it. Can anyone tell what Beeson and Jimmy Ramirez were doing until now? If you guessed Kareoking, you win.

What were you two signing? Two All the Girls I loved before? Jimmy as Julio Eglesias?

Has there been any reports of pertussis contracted at these tournements?
