Stumbled onto some interesting stuff while making my bracket predictions last night. 160 is extremely unpredictable and will be one of my favorite weights to watch in the early rounds.

Grab your bracket and follow along:

Knapp(LN) loses only two matches at state last year, BOTH to Lamar(SL) and BOTH by 1 point!! He finishes fourth in a tough Beloit regional behind 3>Nichols(SC) 2>Doering(MN) who loses in the finals by 1 point to Newell(MK).

Nichols first round match is against Pigorsch(HE) who was 1-2 here last year losing to eventual champion Schippers(HX) and in OT to Speer(AC) who he also lost a 1 point decision last week in the finals at Onaga.

Speers first round matchup is with Knapp (see above) and that winner probably meets Newell in the semis.

Doering's first rounder is against Utley(ON) who has won matches here before, but got hammered 16-4 last year by Nightengale(CM) whom the winner will meet in the quarters.

The winner of that meets the winner of Pigorsch/Nichols v. well... would you look at that matchup Urban(DC) upset in the semis last week and Spencer(HS) who qualified last year.

Now look at the remaining two first round matchups... who you picking?

Sorry that was so long but I found it VERY interesting.

Championship match: Newell v. Nightengale (maybe)

I think 160 has been wide open all year for sure. Regional was a struggle at Beloit just to make the top 4. Knapp which is a solid wrestler won his semi consulation match 4-0. Nichlos looked good at times and struggled at times. Doering wrestled very well. Newell look alright but struggled with take downs more then I have seen in the past. Wide open field this year for sure

Nightengale is my pick to win. Great wrestlers in this weight and it's going to be fun to watch.
