Just thought we should give a shoutout to former Kansas high school standout Zach Robeson, who finished second over the weekend at the nation's most important in-season tournament, the Midlands in Evanston, IL. Zach is a captain at Iowa State University and is currently ranked number 6 in the nation at 133 in Division I.

Not too bad for a Kansas kid, huh?

Dyer is wrestling behind the #1 ranked wrestler in the NCAAs, Josh Lambrecht, at Oklahoma. Oklahoma did not compete at the Midlands.

Joe Johnston is wrestling behind the NCAA's 6th ranked 157 pounder, Matt Anderson at Iowa. I understand their ranking matches have been very competitive. Johnston did compete at the Midlands. He lost a first round match to Matt Gentry of Stanford by a 15-3 score, then won 10-6 over Penn State's James Woodall, won 9-5 over Iowa State's Nathan Meyer 9-5 and then lost to University of Virginia's Tim Foley by a 6-2 score. Foley was the tournament's 10th seed.

Roberson lost a 6-4 match in the finals to University of Michigan's Foley Dowd. Dowd is currently ranked 8th in the nation.

Oakley High School grad - and two time juco All-American at Colby - also wrestled at the Midlands. He is enrolled at Univ of Northern Illinois. Won his first match by fall. Then lost by technical fall to Ohio State's Tommy Rowlands and then lost a 3-1 sv ot match in the consolation bracket.

Ian Bork also competed for Stanford at 197. He had some pretty tough bracket placement as he met up with the tournament's 8th seed, Shawn Stender of Northern Iowa, and lost by TF. Then dropped down into the consolation bracket and met up with the tournament's 9th seed in his next match and lost by fall to Greenburg of Cornell.

(all rankings by Intermat).
