The two big matches at 119 & 140:

119 - Harding got an escape and then relaxed for a second and that is when Brown shot in and got the takedown, Brown wins by one point.

140 - Terrell ahead 4-1 with 30 seconds left and Cornejo gets a defensive pin.

* You have to wrestle smart, Harding relaxed and got takendown, Terrell should of gave it up and bellied down to give up the reversal. He still would of won by 1, but instead he hung on and got caught.

Congradulations to Brown & Cornejo!

The Tournament was run a lot better this year; we got out this year before the finals even started last year.

Two things:

They had the worst announcer of any High School Wrestling Tournament I have ever heard.

And the Most Outstanding Wrestler went to Brown (Carroll) which I don't think is right? It always goes to a kid (usually a Carroll kid) that barely wins in the finals?

Shouldn't the most dominate wrestler be the Most Outstanding?

This year Munoz from Wichita South pins all three wrestlers within the first minute of every match.

I think that they usually give the OW to the winner of the hardest weight bracket. Brown had two state champions in his bracket, and while I don't know many of the people who Munoz defeated, I think that barely defeating a state champ is more impressive than pinning somebody else.

The outstanding wrestler award rarely goes to the best wrestler. Winning quickly by pin usually does not help. Ideally, the level of skill shown on the mat should be a big factor, and quick pins don't allow the opportunity to show those skills. Over the years, I have noticed being able to beat a big name (upset) goes a long way.

Cornejo pinning Terrel is no big suprise. If anyone watched Cornejo wrestle at the junior duals this summer they would know what I mean. At the duals he was well behind in several matches and ended up putting stud wrestlers on their backs and won by pin.

He has awesome hips and can flip anyone over at at any time!!!!!

Not taking anything away from Cornejo, because he's obviously a great wrestler, but he was outmatched. CoachJT was right, Terrell was up and well in control of the match, he made a small mistake and Cornejo, since he's a good wrestler, took advantage of the situation. I'm not saying Cornejo didn't deserve to win, but it is definitely unfortunate that these two wrestlers won't see each other again. I'm sure the next time, we would have a different result.

Terrel got a takedown and an escape. Cornejo got an escape, and was about to get a reversal when he caught Terrel. Which if not for a questionable penalty called on Cornejo would have tied the match at 3-3. So saying that this match was anything but a great match between two outstanding wrestlers is ridiculous. But I will agree with you on one thing, it is to bad these two won't meet again.
