I am in the process of putting together a dual tournament with another school for next year, and would like input into how successful dual tournaments are formatted. Please e-mail me the info.

Thank you,
Ryan Jilka

Format A:
Six teams
round robin
5 total matches/duals

Format B:
Eight Teams
Two Pools of Four
Round Robin in Pools
Cross bracket top two into Winner's Pool and rest into Consolation Pool. Two placing rounds
5 total matches/duals

Format C:
10 teams
Two pools of five
Round Robin
Placing for 1-10 (Washburn Rural does this)
four or five mats needed
5 total matches/duals

Format D:
12 teams
Four pools of three
Round robin in pools
Top Eight to single Elimination for 1-8
Bottom four go to Round Robin Consolation pool
5 total matches/duals

Format E:
16 teams
Multiple examples - will determine on if one-day or two-day tournament. You will want to set up according to mats available and number of desired duals (5-8 duals)

Format F:
20 teams
see link:

This format was a big success this year in MN.

Hope this helps. Whatever you do will be dicatated by the number of mats, space, and teams participating. The goal is to get 5 duals in a one day event and 8-10 duals in a two-day.
