Just wondering, what are the rules about signing the card after the match in tournaments? Does the wrestler have to personaly sign? I saw a coach sign for his wrestler at wichita and was wondering if this was legal

By my understanding, it's alright as long as the wrestler or a coach for his team signs it...personally, I'd love to make the jog over to sign.

At the 6A, 5A, 4A Tournament(s) in the meeting with the head official prior to the start of the tournament, it was explained to the table workers (volunteers), that the "wrestler" must sign the bout card along with the referee.
We chased down many wrestler's after a match to have the card signed.

To my knowledge this is not a rule but simply a method to help prevent errors in scoring by the tableworkers when the wrong wrestler is entered as the winner/loser.

sportsfan got it right. it isn't a rule a mere method of verifying the winner and prevent mistakes

I know in college the coach can sign for you sometimes.

Plus this year we didn't even sign it. We just had to circle our names.

Probably a good thing, some people can't spell their names without the adrenalin rush.
