Simple question but hard to figure out. Looking at kids, high school, summer wrestling, college and beyond. Who is the most celebrated Kansas wrestler in each division and most overall? I have heard that Eric Akin has the record for most All-American titles via USA at Fargo but don't know. Let's hear some history. Give some of the young guns something to shoot for.

Kit you may know this, but how many 2x National Junior College Individual Champions has Kansas had? I can think of 2 that were homegrown kids.

Every list of Kansas wrestlers should begin with Myron Roderick of Winfield. At cadet/junior nationals, David Ray of Goddard was a multiple placer and champion (may be the most decorated, or close to it). He was also a DI all-american.

Can we combine all 3?
Jennings' taco bell eating skills
plus
Parker's spelling and orchestral skills
plus
Roberson's insane wrestling skills
Maybe you're not an ugly human, but a good looking ape.....with exceptional verbal skills.

I also don't think that Steinmetz deserves to be on the list. No offense, he's good, but not good enough to be mentioned in this topic. Not in a serious way anyways. If it's not serious, then anyone is fine.

My opinion is that there are others who have been mentioned that do not deserve to be, but I do not want to be negative.

I would think Pete Mehringer of Kinsley would be a good choice. 1932 Olympics in Los Angelas 192 - Gold- Peter Mehringer (USA); Silver - Thure Sjoestedt (Sweden); Bronze - Eddie Scarf (Australia) Peter Mehringer Information

Correct about Mehringer and he is the only Olympic Gold Medalist in wrestling from Kansas. My opinion is still that Roderick was the best overall. He was 4th in the Olympics but only had one loss. Back then the bracketing was different. He lost by 1 point to gold madalist Sojo (sp) Sashihara of Japan, the inventor of the Sashihara head gear. Roderick was a 3X DI AA. Statistically though, the gold medal wins out. Third is Douglass with a world title. Akin as a world team member should be forth. After that you can argue all day.

I'm not being negative. I'm just saying that a just because he won 85 kids state titles and 0 high school titles doesn't make him on of the best in Kansas history.

And I think that WSEWC probably has the top 4 correct due to Mehringer being the only olympic gold medalist and the others being complete studs.

billy mcjackson ripjc Sorry, wasn't trying to "hate" on you. I just did not want to upset someone for not agreeing with their selection.

Oh yeah, my bad. I think that may have hurt him really, because he was never able to win another one.

Alex Haines would be my choice, I don't know too many who can through around Danial Cormier when he was at CCC.
