I would have to warn you about making this so widely known. I know that you cannot even as so think about practicing in anyway shape or form during buffer week. I think this maybe in violation of a rule, but I could be wrong, but I again caution you. Nice thought by the way.

I am in the process of contacting Topeka to make sure everything would be ok. Plus it's still a thought. Just seeing if there would be any interest. The camp is off any school property, and as far as I know that is not any rules violation. I've looked through the KSHAA rule book and couldn't find anything, that's why I'm contacting Topeka for further info. My thought is to try to get kids a safe headstart on the season, plus give coaches an extra week wrestling and one less week of conditioning.

It's working out basically on your own, since the school isn't involved. So I don't see why there would be a problem with it.

What I knew last was as long as the team's head coach was not heading up a team type of deal. If it's a "camp" type where others were involved should be just peachy.

I was told by our AD that our basketball players could not attend the open gym our rec has due to the fact of bufferweek, even the wrestlers couldn't attend. It might have bee from it being in our school's gym but I don't know. Better safe than sorry right?

I'm still trying to get something figured out up this way for a camp as well here in Kansas.

The camp will be just a Condtioning Camp for all high school athletes. To stay clear of any KSHAA rules violations, student athlete or coach, the camp will be open for all basketball players and wrestlers. Plus, since football season is still going on "no football players can participate if they are still in the playoffs!" I would like to also know if anyone is interested in an all class wrestling tournament held in wichita over the christmas and new years break, for the 2006-2007 season. Let me know if anyone is interested in wrestling conditioning camps held next summer in the wichita area.

The one at FHSU should/will be the major tournament allowed over Christmas break. I don't see the KSHSAA allowing 2 tournaments over break. Good thought though. Alex

Alex Maybe a post-season 18 and under state tournament at Wichita or something?

Have it the week after High School state, and invite everyone, have 64 man brackets open to all high schoolers everywhere, KS NE CO MO OK TX or anywhere and have it a very large open tournament. You might have something there.
