Winfield will be the hosting one of the most prestigious youth wrestling camps in the state of Kansas.
The 2005 All-American Wrestling Camp will be held June 19-22 at Winfield High School and Southwestern College. Aspiring wrestlers will learn all styles of wrestling — folk style, freestyle and Greco-Roman.
Jeremy Biddle, camp director, said there will be 80 to 100 participants at the camp.
The camp will include an all-star staff. The camp staff includes:
•Biddle — a 2000 NAIA national champion for Missouri Valley College and 1996 state champion of Winfield High School.
•Beau Vest — a 1996 NAIA national champion and state champion from Topeka High School.
•Tyson Biddle — a 2003 NAIA national champion at Missouri Valley College, and state champion at Winfield High School.
•Shawn Silvis — a two-time NCAA Division II national champion at University of Central Oklahoma and state champion from Augusta.
•Kenny Taylor Jr. — a state champion from Wichita West and nation runner-up at Bacone College.
•Chad Parks — an Oklahoma state placer from Pawhuska and NCAA II All-American from Fort Hays State University.
The camp is open to all 2004-05 USA wrestling card holders from the ages 6 to 18. Resident campers will be staying at Reid Hall on the intersection of Warren and McCabe on the campus of Southwestern College, 100 College.
Commuter check-in is Sunday from 6:30 to 7 p.m. at the Winfield High School wrestling room. Parents may pick up their wrestlers at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 22, at Reid Hall or 4 p.m. at the Winfield High School wrestling room.
Daily schedule includes:
Session I - 9:30 to 11 a.m.
Session II - 2 to 4 p.m.
Session III - 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Tuesday night is activity night at the Winfield Aquatic Center.
