When are the updated rankings coming out IN GENERAL for all weights and all classes...cuz some weights still have four or five guys ranked.

I am not an expert on how the rankings are done, but each class has an individual who volunteers his time to compile the rankings. They are usually updated every two weeks or so. Early in the season, rankings are based on last years performance and information provided by the coaches. The rankers can only use what is provided them. They do not have the ability to go and watch every athlete wrestle. If you and your team mates are ranked at the incorrect weights, maybe when your coach submitted your teams roster, he thought those were the weights you were going to be at. As much complaining about rankings that goes on here, it is amazing that those individuals who take there personal time to compile them continue to do so. It is definitely a thankless job.

I posted this about a month ago
Quote:
Rankings are not an exact science just ask USC… If a person is ranked in the top six in his weight class it should be taken as recognition for hard work and success in past years of wrestling and not necessarily State placing, but what takes place on the mat consistently day after day. Will you find that these guys can be beat? Sure you can! Anybody can be scored on. Will these guys have a 500 season? I don't think so. The coaches that provide this thankless service mean no harm by including someone that they feel has the potential to perform to the level that they see as attainable. Also if someone is excluded from the list and thinks they should be in the top six then work hard and win matches and good things will happen. To be ranked is not what it seems at face value, the higher the ranking the bigger the target “OU-KSU”, the higher the expectations on the wrestler perform at the perceived level, the tougher it is to do week in and week out. So to be ranked is an honor, to be unranked is could be considered a blessing.
I wish everyone would get over the fact they are not right at the moment. It really doesn’t matter till the end of the year and the six athletes are standing on the podium. Rankings are for entertainment purposes ONLY. So use them as a motivational tool and move on.

Another thing about if your teammate wrestles this weight and is ranked at that weight and so on...the reason they are probably there is because your coach doesn't know how to use a computer or like some coaches doesn't care to have you ranked...and lets other coaches give their 2 cents worth and they may have you at a different weight.
