I have 52# results:

Ragnoni (Salina) 1st
Hilliard (Halstead) 2nd
Prester (Russell) 3rd
Pierson (Junction City) 4th
Ray (Paola) 5th
Motter (Newton) 6th

Some VERY good matches at this weight. I think we are going to have some good rivalries between several of these kids (including some who didn't place) for some time to come.

I would like to also say that the Ottawa club did an outstanding job putting on this tourney. They really treated these boys (and girls) like champions with the parade and the finals round. If they can put on a tourney like this for 6U's every year the popularity of it will continue to grow. Thank you Ottawa.

Newparent My son wrestled at this weight and some of my sons buddies are in this weight and the good thing about this sport is that these kids can be rivals on the mat and friends off. My son wont be moving up with them to 8 and under next year he will be a 3rd year 6 and under (he was only 5 this year). But I will miss alot of the compititon that we had this year but we will be ready next year for who ever is in our weight.

For anyone that doesn't think that 6 and under should be at the state in Topeka should have been there at Ottawa. There were some kids that cried but for every kid that did cry there were several that didn't. There was some very good competition. Ottawa you do a wonderful job at this tournament and we will be back year for the third time. I know my son enjoys this tournament and is already looking forward to it.

golden:

My son is moving up to 8U next year as well. This was his sec ond year wrestling. You are right, he has also developed many friendships by wrestling the same kids over and over again for two years. My brother was at the Ottawa tourney to watch my son and he coudn't believe how many of those 30 some odd kids we knew. I told him its because we see them week in and week out for 3 months. It's like a mini fraternity with these kids.

Are you Austin Golden's dad?

I'm Grant Hilliard's dad. Grant and Austin wrestled several times this year. Austin is going to be a good wrestler. He got Grant in a couple of head locks Sunday and I was a little nervous because he almost got him on his back twice. I didn't realize Austin was younger. He should have a real successsful season next year.

I wanted to compliment Grant on his sportsmanship. After they wrestled Sunday Grant was alway behind Austin cheering him on and would tell him good luck and good job when he was done. It is good to see kids like this and parents who encourage it. Tell Grant good job on Sunday and good luck next year in 8u.

The bracket at 43 turned out really bad. Christian Bowen didn't place because of the way the bracket fell and that was unfortunate. He was the 4th best wrestler in that weight class without a doubt. Top 3 were right as they should have been though. Unfortunate that Tafolla and Christian met two matches before the consolation finals. J. J. wrestled the best I've seen him wrestle ever. He was really on at the tournament. His parents should be very proud. No one could have beaten him Sunday!

JAB, I agree with you. Jarret was on fire and all of his matches looked outstanding. His movements during his matches were fluid and of the quality you'd see in a wrestler thats been doing this for several years. I was dissapointed that my son lost to him, but knew that Jarret was the better wrestler that day, without a doubt. I also agree with the comments about the bracketing. Christian should've been one of the top four as well. I felt bad for him and his situation, and realize that It could've very well been Nathan in his spot. He and Nathan wrestled a very close match, going into overtime. I know he and his father were upset, and I understand their frustration. I felt bad for them and the way the bracket fell.
