I Think the state had a bone head! They have Pyle and Drennen on the same side of the bracket!

That is too bad they both ended up on the same side of the bracket...they are clearly the two best at that weight,it is a shame one will have to knock the other one back. They should of met in the finals.

yes it would have been nice if they met in the finals. I am betting it will not be that great of a match though.

Not that great of a match? Are you kidding me? These two may be the 2 best wrestlers in 3A. I know Pyle is excellent and easily won the finals match last year. But Drennan is good. I mean damn good!

Drennan is darn good. Pyle is in a class of his own. We will all get to see just how good the match will be in the semis.

I would have one question. What was your position last year when two defending state champions Matt Pyle and Bryan Miller of Oberlin met in the semi finals and Drennan came through the other side of the bracket? I agree it would be great if the best kids always met in the finals, but even in the regionals that doesn;t happen. In the regional I saw 4 or 5 of the matches with the best two kids actually meeting in the semis. I have long thought they should try to seed the regional champions in each weight 1 through 4 and then fill in the rest of the state bracket as they do now. It still would not be foul proof but would seperate some of the really great ones.

I just want to say that Third place is just as good as Second place. Frequently, the third place kid can beat the kid who places second. Kansas should think about having wrestle offs at state for second and third if the two kids have not already met at the tournament.
Personally, i would rather take second place than third but at least the third place kid gets to win his last match of the year where as the runner up finishes up his season as a loser.

If the state would seed the four number ones comeing in to the state tournment this would never happen. But don't think for one second the kshsaa is going to try to show case the best athletes when they can leave it all up to a computer and they don't have to do a damn thing!

Staab and Page are on opposite sides of the bracket not on the same side.
