Kansas Wrestling Forums General Discussion High School Down a little

Is the level of wrestling down a little this year compared to what it has been in the last few years? There doesn't seem to be as many quality wrestlers.

The older we get, the better we were.

Kind of funny how that works. Last year there was a lot of discussion on this forum about how weak the 215 pound weight class was in Kansas - but then KS scored 4 All-Americans in the weight in Cleveland!

I thought it was down a little bit this year but it comes and it goes. The matches were great and entertaining but the level of wrestling seemed to be, at some weights, a little bit sparce. Hey that happens, no two years are the same. Judging from some of the freshmen and sophomores that we saw doing great things in the state tourney, it is about to swing the other way in a hurry. Can't imagine that any two years would be alike though and some years will be better than others.
