Why didn't he wrestle at Regionals?

Nick Newell won his regional 4-3 over Doering of Minneapolis

newll is from mankato....he isnt able to wrestle for beloit for reginals because if he wrestles 4 beloit then we would have to combine the # of people in mankato school district and beloit...making us 4a...so yea, he wrestled and beat feff doring in the finnals with a close match of 4 to 5

Newell's story is pretty amazing. Plays basketball until his Sr. year then has a great season. One can't help but think how good he'd be if he would have wrestled 4 years. I was really impressed with him...good skills, but his agressiveness impressed me the most. He flat went after people. I don't know if he can win state, but I think he at least has a decent shot

Thanks. I did not know the situation. I saw him wrestle in a Beloit singlet twice this season. Was very impressed with the boy!

Coach-

Yes he is a mankato couger now. He is still impressive enouogh if he has to wear purple. He struggled a bit at regionals but I expect him to do well at state. He is awesome from his feet and I think this could win him the state champion.

he actually wrestled in kids federation 4 a # of years and did very well....but he got burnt out on it or somthing and switched to basketball...but this past year as a junior he came back and wrestled 4 kids in his 2nd year in 16 and under and placed 5th....
