If a wrestler is certified at 125, can he weigh in at 130 and then wrestle 135? I know he can break certification once and after looking through the rule book, I find the following which lead me to believe it would be okay.:
4-4-2: A contestant shall not wrestle more than one weight class above that class for which the actual weight, at the time of weigh-in, qualifies the competitor.
1-3-2a: ....After certification, a wrestler shall not weigh-in more than one weight class above the weight of certification without recertifying at the higher weight...
What do you think? rhill

I think someone just answered the question. I was looking at the NFHS rule book and apparently the Kansas rules also say a wrestler can't wrestle more than one weight call above the certified weight. Thanks. rh

Malay, That isn't the case anymore. A wrestler can weigh one weight class above their certified weight. For instance, if I was certified at 125, I could weigh in for a tournament at 130 and wrestle 130. Now that the 2 pound growth allowance is in effect, I could actually weigh 132, and still keep my certification @ 125. The catch is at least half of your competition weigh-ins must be at the weight you are going to compete at regionals to be able to enter that weight class.
Here is a question: who checks the # of weigh-ins per weight class?

so even if we certify at 125 and we wrestle 130, we get 2 pounds at both 125 & 130? or just 2 pounds at 125?
