I don't think I'm good at all, but it's great to see that he went 1-2 in kids last year, in the same bracket that I won. Sadly, I don't get to wrestle many ranked people. Maybe if I did then some of you would actually think I'm not terrible.
So this kid is putting on his shoes right, and his mom says, honey you're putting your shoes on the wrong feet, and the little kid says, no mom these are my feet

2 kids that don't get much attention but may in the future had a great match last night:
Tim Coles (Chapman) and Matt Rein (Abilene) at 103 in the dual...they were countering each other until pretty good until Rein got some shoulder points and a reverse to really seal the deal 13-9

Hemmerling vs Bedore at Newton last year. When Bedore took Hemmerling down with that great double leg the crowd knew it was going to be a great one to watch. Hemmerling put a half in and scored two, Bedore tied it up in the third with another double with about 20 seconds left. Hemmerling escaped and Bedore was in on another shot when time expired. Hemmerling 5-4

Elliot and Karl Brown from Carroll just had a great match. Elliot was riding Brown pretty good the whole match, and even put Brown on his back. Elliot was up by one with about 30 seconds left, and Brown took Elliot down and got some back points at the end.

Speaking of Karl Brown, he and Tanner Gardner had a pretty good match last year in the finals of the Derby tournament. It was much closer than their matchup in the state finals last spring. Gardner was trying hard for a pin and was nearly pinned himself defensively. It was one of the best matches I saw last year.

monnington vs. geske no points till 3rd period. they become tied up at 2. right before the buzzer monnington gets a take down that was almost not awarded, but geske showing great sportsmanship admitted his defeat.

That Monnington/Geske match is still my cake topper for high school matches I've seen this year. I've seen to many mis-matches and not enough matches being close though in the 4 duals, 1 varsity and 2 freshman/sophomore tournaments I saw this year. I have a feeling after Abilene regional there might be more to get excited about match wise. The Zouzas vs. Gilliland match at Beloit sounded darn exciting on the internet just listening in.

The Monnington v. Moses match at Goddard was one of Monnington's worst. He went into that tournament 26-0 and was beating Cody Bitler from Campus(#5 in 5A)6-2. He then got careless and was hit in the lateral drop and got pinned. He was then also beating Moses and got hit in a headlock. As for the finger in the eye that wasn't a mistake... you gotta do what you gotta do to get off your back. Too bad Monnington won't see them again but if he did it would be a better match.

That's why you don't put your eye in someone's finger...or something like that. :-)

I agree with Les Brown's earlier post on the Kerns/Plumber match. I also saw Butch give Curtis Simons a good match in an old-timers tournament. For those of you who know Curtis, not too many people could do that. Les Brown's state finals match was a good one, too, back in 1986. He had a freak-of-nature 167# freshman from Garden Plain (Turley) who was definitely a STUD. The match went back and forth until Les finally pinned him late in the match.
