Things are interesting at Rossville/St Marys where the school board has decided there will be only one school next year. Although the school board has withstood the legal challenge, there is a re-call election and then the spring board election. The issue probably won't be settled until then. I read where the A D 's are having trouble with the football schedule.
What impact is this going to have on the Rossville and ST. Marys wrestling tourneys for next year. Both are established tourneys on back to back weekends. The Rossville tourney has ten teams and is very tough, with Clay Center, Effingham, and Santa Fe Trail all winning state trophies recently, then there are Sabetha, Rossville and Baldwin among others. On the following week ST. Marys host a 2 day tourney of more than twenty teams. Some of the teams are a rung down the ladder, but traditionally these teams have seen it as a gage of how the kids might do at state. How will the potential merger affect these tourneys? If the merger does happen as it now appears will only one tourney survive? If so, which one? It does impact the schedule of about 30 teams!!!
