First off,
Congratulations to Clay Center,
Although I obviously would have prefered a certain other team to take it this year, it was not meant to be. Coastie really said it best though, 1 and 2 both from NCKL, pretty impressive. I am comforted only by the fact that Abilene will be returning 2 finalist, 5 placers next year, should have another good run as well. Add another top 3 finish to an already impressive resume.
Congrats to Tanner Dawson on your first State Championship, your work ethic and dedication got you where you are, keep it up and get another.
Matt Rein, I still remember how much you struggled the last 3 years after being outsized by many of your opponents. Well now its your turn, came up a little short this year, next year its all yours.
Josh Peterson, you had a great run, its been great watching you over the years.
Colby, Nick, Cody, you did your part and scored needed points for the team, I aplaud you as well.
To Ross Taplin, the second most successful wrestler in Abilene history, I tip my hat to you and I wish you the best as you continue your career.
And last but certainly not least. To Coach Stout, Taplin, the other coaches, cheerleaders, stat girls, and all the parents who make the program what it is, you've put a smile on my face, and you fill my heart with pride. Great season, and I look forward to next year.
