Ok... according to the KSHSAA, there are 32 6a schools and 32 5a schools. However, this year there are 33 teams in the 5a state tournament and 34 in the 6a state tournament. Last year, there were 33 in 6a. How in the HECK does that work?

I really don't see any "consolidated" teams on the list.

The teams which changed classes (from last year) are inadvertently showing up on this year' list. For instance, Olathe Northwest is on the 5A list but competed in 6A. Same for Blue Valley West (6A last year, 5A this year). I assume this is what you are seeing.

Lansing moved up from 4a to 5a also for example and ended up in the upper part of 5 a from the depths of the 4a cellar, heck they had a State Champ!

Easy answer. There is only 32 in each classification. Whoever kept the online, listed some schools in both classes such as Olathe Northwest and Wichita West. Don't ask me why. I suppose they used last years template and added to it.

Ksmac could you please clarify your statement. What don't you care about and what are the more important things we should be worried about?

Look, if extra schools are competing where they shouldn't be, it's a concern!
