"Hoover vs. Charbonneau was good."
Details? For starters, who won?
I know Jake beat Annon. Annon seemed quicker and got in on some good shots but didn't seem to have the strength to finish.

Details? For starters, who won? Doug Hoover defeated Trevor Charbonneau 3-2 in the 2002 East vs. West Senior Wrestling Classic.

1999 - Kelly Gabel (171), St Francis vs Bill Brine, Goddard. Gabel was a 3X state champion and 44-0. He was ranked in the top five in the country and went to OK St. to wrestle, as his brother had done. He also was second in the High School Nationals and should have won but lost on a questionable call.
Brine, from Goddard, was a recent transfer from PA and was 36-0 and a 2X state champion and ranked in the top 15 in the country by USA Wrestling. He would wrestle at Lehigh Univ. back in PA and is now an Army officer and ranger serving in Iraq.
Gabel was winning by a point (3-2) late in the third period when Brine took him to his back and got the pin with seconds left in the match.
Both wrestlers were "Senior Wrestler's of the Year". Gabel in 3-2-1A and Brine in 5A.

I think my favorite had to be back in 1998, when it was still the East/West Classic. It was Hat Town's 215 vs. Cal Cheney, from Wyandotte. What a barnburner.
Anyone else remember what happened in that match?

Pratt; In regards to the Chaney vs Parker (I think was his name) match, Chaney won the match 14-6. It was a good match between two kids who had wrestled before. Parker beat Chaney for his only loss that year at the Highland Park Tourney on a takedown with three seconds left in the match (4-3). In the East West match Parker locked up to throw but Chaney beat him to it and threw him for five and the match was on. Two very good kids both capable of big moves for big kids. Chaney was really good at the end of the year and it kind of showed how far he had come in a year. Both were state champions although in different years and classifications. It was a good one though.
