Thought you might all be interested to know that state sites for 2004 have been determined and once again the KSHSAA has ignored what the coaches wanted.
In 2004 the Class 3-2-1A tournament will be in Hays (well, I guess they listened here thankfully).
And the winner for the 4A, 5A and 6A tournament is ... Wichita and its lovely hospitality, warm hearts and cold mats.

Well I know nothing baout what KSHSAA had in mind for the coming years, but I guarantee it was what was best in their interests not the wrestlers or the coaches. I would love to see high school state moved to perhaps the expocenter in Topeka, but pretty much anywhere but wichita would be nice

Salina Journal, I was just wondering (at the sake of violating a sacred journalism trust) what your source was. Up until a week ago, my understanding was that things were still up in the air.

I guess they don't really need a source cause they are a newspaper and they can say whatever they want.

Hey, I wrestled in the Colliseum this year and had no problem with it. The mats they had were superb and squishy, and I had no problem sweating once the match got going.
I think those who absolutely DEMAND that we change it from Wichita are only seeking to fix something that isn't broken, but merely in need of an update.
And I have no problem with the Colliseum, as long as they get rid of Elite Security. Eek.

Anyone know what brand of mats those were that were used in Wichita this year? They didn't have a brand name on them.

The atmosphere at the wichita coliseum is awesome there is no getting around that when your in front of 6,000 people, it is not that bad that you can't stand to be there for 2 days there is plenty of seating, it doesn't matter where you have it when you have that many people in one place using restrooms and running water all the time you are bound to have problems no matter where you are at. The expocentre would be alright but the floor is the same at the expocenter as it is in the coliseum "ice" so the mats are gonna be cold there to so that is no a very good excuse cold mats just mean that you have to prepare better.

What would be wrong with Salina? Is the Bi-center big enough? It seems the location is far better than any other because it is centrally located and they have added several new hotels in the past few years. ANy way someone said that the KSHSAA ignored what the coaches wanted. What did they want?
